In one sentence
ClassicTunes brings back everything iTunes did for classic iPods, syncing music, podcasts, audiobooks, videos and photos from any Mac running macOS 12 Monterey or later.
In a paragraph
Apple stopped selling the iPod in 2022, but millions are still in use, and more are being bought, repaired and upgraded every year. Finder can still see them, but it doesn't do what iTunes did. ClassicTunes does: a full music library with CD importing, podcasts, audiobooks and smart playlists, and syncing that shows every change before it happens and keeps a snapshot of the iPod to fall back on. It runs on Macs as old as macOS 12 Monterey, supports Rockbox, and can be automated with AppleScript and Shortcuts.
